Three years, six tours and three members ago, Bad Pony were two dudes sitting in a dank basement recording indie-pop tunes as a side project. Three years on, Bad Pony are five multi-instrumentalists with an award winning live show.
Having taken out the Raw Artists Musicians of The Year Award 2013, the five piece were acknowledged for their unique and communal approach to rhythm, performing with no designated drummer but instead with a gaggle of mismatched stand up percussion instruments.
After releasing their critically acclaimed debut EP in 2015, their latest five singles (including a collaboration with Bad Decisions) have achieved success on triple J radio Australia within the last year. Bad Pony are currently touring their latest single ‘Sideways’ on a massive 23 date tour.

Armed with his guitar and his folk songs, he created the foundations of his own universe in his first single “Lucky” (2011). The universe was further developed and revisited in his first two albums “Tomorrow May Not Be Better” (2011) and “Too Old to Die Young” (2013). Then, taking inspiration from the world around him and his position in it, he created his third opus, “Facing Canyons” (2015). With his instantly catchy melodies, clever arrangements, and constant charisma, he exploded onto the world scene as a sincere and unexpected artist.
On the stage, Bastian Baker has been duly rewarded (two platinum albums, five Swiss Music Awards, a World Music Award,…) and internationally recognized (opening act for Shania Twain, Bryan Adams, Johnny Hallyday, and more ”).

Garden City Movement is a Tel Avivian-based electronic music project. The three produce sweet hypnotic beats to ground floor bass heavy tracks. Signed with BLDG5 records, Garden City Movement first made waves last fall with the release of their debut EP Entertainment, which garnered early press champions as numerous Hype Machine influential blogs, Pitchfork, Clash, The FADER, Stereogum and FACT which created a short documentary about “The rising stars of Tel Aviv.”
With videos reaching 1M hits and screenings at the LA film festival, GCM scored support slots for acts such as Alt-J, Cults, SOHN & Rufus and their debut appearance on the Boiler Room. The trio intensively toured Europe and was on festival bills such as Primavera, Pukkelpop, Glastonbury & Fusion festival.
Bengali Cinema, the second EP, continued Entertainment‘s media praise. They dominated Hype Machine’s top 3 for three days straight with Terracotta, and were featured in the vast blogosphere as “The Band To Watch.” Radio stations such as BBC6, KEXP & Sirius XM(to name a few) picked up tracks from both EP’s as well as reaching #21 on CMJ’s RPM chart.
In April, the band has teamed up with The Vinyl Factory and released “Modern West,” Garden City Movement’s 3rd and final EP in the trilogy. The Vinyl Factory encompasses a record label that worked before with artists such as xx, Massive Attack and Roisin Murphy.

Known for his creative and unique songwriting, HUSH is a singersongwriter that hails from Taiwan. Through the use of philosophical ideas, HUSH’s music portrays the love and loneliness of life. With humble beginnings, HUSH’s musical journey began in 2010 while performing at a local coffee shop in Taipei, where he worked as a barista. Since then, HUSH has released one EP (Astronomical Cachet), two studio albums (X, Psycho Love), and one unplugged album (Everyone’s Gonna Miss You).
Fitting iNCH into a caricature of her namesake would be a misnomer. Always surprising people with her breadth of musicianship and depth of personality, iNCH is never afraid to venture into the discomforting umbra of artistry to push her own limits and challenge popular perceptions. One can imagine her as a musical nomad with the spirit animal of a mouse deer — endangered, private and mysterious, yet when revealed is honest and vulnerable — a contradiction of meekness and artfulness. Such unpredictability makes this pint-sized Singaporean singer- songwriter all the more an exciting paradox to embark on a musical adventure with.
Linying, the Spotify Spotlight on 2016 Featured Artist is breaking into the indie-alternative consciousness on her own, with mentions on Billboard and NPR, a stint on the global Spotify Viral charts, while showcasing a brand of moving lyricism and vivid music production in songs that reveal a stark emotional perspective through elements of electronica, baroque pop, folk, and alt-rock.
Since the release of their debut EP in 2015, MAEFIRE have been unstoppable.
First single ALYSHA catapulted the band head first into Melbourne’s rock and roll scene, playing to a sold out Workers Club and follow up shows in Adelaide & Brisbane.
Second offering SOLE DESIRE reached international air play and saw the band play shows with Brit rockers As It Is, US band The Maine, as well as Australia’s Ocean Alley & Young Lions across the country.
Heading back into the studio at the tail end of 2015, MAEFIRE are set to premiere the music video for new single WITHOUT YOU in July this year. Showcasing a more groove orientated sound reminiscent of The 1975 and The Neighbourhood. WITHOUT YOU is the first offering from the bands follow up release CRYSTAL EYES due September.
My Life as Ali Thomas (MLAAT) is an indie-folk band based in Thailand. Though began in early 2013, MLAAT recruit wasn’t final until late 2014. MLAAT, fronted by a female vocalist, is a four-piece band– acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums. MLAAT music can be recognized as Pop, though with a dash of that folky-experimental sound. MLAAT currently has two official singles; ‘Daughter and Son,’ and ‘Winter’s Love.’ ‘Cordelia,’ MLAAT’s third official single, is set to release in early August, with the plan of full studio album set to release early September.

It’s not easy for a Thai rock band to stay at the top of their game and maintain their popularity for 10 years. But Slot Machine is that band. With six studio albums, three MTV award nominations plus 11 local and international awards, Slot Machine is undoubtedly a Thai rock band to be noticed.
Their next adventure involves taking on the international market. Slot Machine’s first all-English album, ’Spin The World’, was released in 2016. Slot Machine has always been willing to take risks, and the band believes the time is right for something completely new. With the help of six-time Grammy Award-winning producer, Steve Lillywhite, who has worked with U2, The Rolling Stones, and The Killers, the new album opens a new chapter in the band’s career.
Since breaking onto the Australian electronic music scene in 2014, Slumberjack have expanded their sound with bigger hooks and more visionary textures. Powered by their kinetic chemistry, the Perth-based duo’s latest output includes “Open Fire,” an energetic collaboration with former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns (released via Diplo’s Mad Decent in North America and Onelove elsewhere across the globe). Having earned 10 million-plus streams across all platforms, Morgan Then and Fletcher Ehlers also recently released “Enigma (feat. GRRL PAL),” a bright and airy track that reached #4 on HypeMachine in late 2015. In each of their new offerings, Slumberjack channel their complex musicality and passion for innovation into music both deeply inventive and distinctly timeless.

Like any Singaporean, we pride ourselves on our ability to switch and converse between our national language of English and our mother tongue. And as with any Timbre venues, you can expect good music and quality live performances on stage. Switch is for the closeted Mandarin-pop fans who refuse to queue up for hours to meet your idols, refuse to wave your glow stick in the dark at gigs and will not give into the argument that one language-genre of music is more superior to the other.
